I was looking closely at my birth certificate and in the space for MD signature it has the name of Jacob Koomen - Does anybody know if this is a Dr that delivers babies or who he might be - Just wondered if all birth certificates out of Raleigh were signed by this man -

I wish I could get my hands on the original one -
Right now I do not have alot to go on-
Wish I could figure out which county I was born in -

I found out information on the Jacob Koomen you spoke of. I believe he probably signed all of them as he was the State Health Director. He was also involved in a lot of 'Sterilizations of young girls in the 60's'

Have you done an internet search on this name? Example: "Dr. Jacob Koomen, North Carolina's top public health official in the 1960s and 1970s." Are you sure this is an original birth certificate? How likely is it that the state's top public health official was a practicing OB?

There is info on him online. He may have been a part of the sterilization program in NC. PM me if you need help finding info.
