:) Hello, I just ran across this forum and had a few question and concerns, regarding breast feeding an adoptive baby.
I had a a TOTAL hyst. several years ago, I don't have ANYTHING, including ovaries, is this possible for me to do?... . We have a surrogate that is going to carry our baby, (not preg. yet though). If breast feeding is an option for me ,When should I start trying to get my milk to come in?...How long does it USUALLY take?..should I start now or wait closer to time of delivery?...Does the drug, Domperidone have any side affects,.that would hurt the baby or me?....How long should you stay on the drug?...my mom is on this drug for her colon/intestines, never heard of it for this purpose at all, until now...
Thanks for any suggestions/input, Hope:flower:
Hope - the hyst shouldn't hurt your chances of breastfeeding. Dom has not shown any side effects for the baby and most women stay on the Domperidone until they are done breastfeeding. You should start preparing for breastfeeding when you decide which way you want to go about it and usually at least a month before the baby comes. No one know how long it will take for milk to come in - some start right away and others never get more than a drop.. there is just no way to tell what your body will do.
I had great success using the Lact Aid Supplementor system or you could try the Medela SNS while you are building your milk supply.
Best of luck to you!!

I CAN NOW.........
