Panama called our attorney last week or so. Time has become a blur. The DNA wants us to get a new Post Placement Followup Report letter signed by another agency or licensed social worker. The one in our dossier has our old agency's name on it and they refuse to accept that now...now!! After two years. They want this paper re-done and back to them immediately because they have a referral for us! NOW, after two years. But they won't give us the referral without that paper.
I'm having a heck of a time finding someone to sign this paper. Seems most social workers I fiind are affiliated with our old agency (huge NO-NO as far as Panama is concerned). Or one agency who agreed, insists they be pre-paid for all of the followup visits before they sign the document.
Dude! Hubby isn't happy with that option because this referral isn't a done-deal and the adoption may fail yet. We've already lost thousands of dollars on this adoption, and we have a very strict budget. And that chunk of money really needs to go to getting our homestudy and I600-A done again. We'd let everything expire since we'd lost faith that anything was every going to happen. So we figured when Panama gave us the referral, we'd have a few months yet to get all that stuff updated before traveling.
Panama could care less that our US stuff has expired. ALL they want is a new Follow-up Report paper that doesn't have *that* agency's name anywhere near it!!! They're withholding our referral until then, but they will only wait so long.
Does anyone know of a licensed social worker in Florida, especially the Tampa Bay area? We've put out feelers left and right, but are getting absolutely nowhere. Panama keeps calling our attorney every day wanting to know where this paper is.
We're about to lose the referral we've waited so long for over that danged former agency. All we know is it's a boy and he's being moved from Bocas del Toro to Panama City this weekend. :grr:
I've searched our state site to track down social workers, but it's been very vague and unhelpful (no phone numbers or email addresses). I'm running in circles trying to get this form done again.
Help!
Thanks for listening to a hysterical woman!!
Robin- I am in Jacksonville. I don't know if the following have offices in Tampa, but all were recommended to me for homestudies: Catholic Charities, Jewish Family Services (I think that was the name) and Children's Home Society. Good luck!

Have you tried Hope for Families? Dr. & Mrs Brown are very special people. They drove to my place in Broward county annd did a fantastic job on my homestudy 2 yrs ago. They have an agency liscence but do not function in that capacity.
Hi. Yes, they were one of dozens of agencies I contacted. I think we found someone, but I'd like to talk to Dr Brown again. Thanks
You could get the "Adoption Guide" magazine. It has a lot of agencies and such in it. This might be helpful.
