Did anyone else read about this story? I heard about it as the older child that was not injured, was a former foster child and had been in my home. The boy had been reunited with his b.parents and after the 6 months had been closed. They then had the baby girl. The caseworker called to see if I had room for the older boy to come to me as he was going to be pulled from the home. I am what they call "over capped" so I could not have him. It is all so sad. I can not believe this happened. I have not heard all the details. The caseworker said Mom left both kids in the bathtub and went to make bottles and the older boy turned on the water (as kids love to do) and filled up the tub with his little sister in it. Is it neglect or just a horriable mistake? I guess someone will determine that. These parents already had 4 older children they lost to TPR and Adoption. I know they must be feeling terriable. Any thoughts?
So sad. In New York, there were stories about kids being returned to birth families and being hurt and/or killed. I feel for the social workers: they can't know what the bio parents will do.

When you have long term addicts that only clean up to get the child back, this is what happens.
So sad! Drugs are so nasty, so devestating. I hate drugs.
This is my biggest concern with our foster child.
It hard to say exactly what happened, but bmom had other children removed. As a new foster mom it is truly my greatest fear for a child to go back into an unsafe home. Hope that child is safe now in God's arms!

It's horrible when accidents happen. Many parents aren't really NEGLECTING (or don't mean to be) the kids when these horrible things happen - they are not thinking. Now - the reason for not thinking - that is the reason for removal. We've had many children returned to Bio's and the majority clean up. And stay that way. Not enough - but a majority. But when the Bio's have prior's I personnaly think that 6 months is way, way to short. Like anything else, it's the minorities that get the press, have unfixable problems, or don't want to clean up. It's the minorities we are here for.
God Bless EVERY ONE.
Regardless of whether or not she was 'clean' when it happened, a 10 month old should never be left unattended in a bathtub! Never!
