Yes this is ashame we can't find out anything, I asked a question to the agency and they did give me a first name of my birth mother, but how do I know if it is true info they gave me. they only told me a first name and told me for all info, I would have to do a birth search and pay $250.00 then it still might turn out negitive. I have heard of agencys giving you the wrong info to throw you off, why do they do this. Thanks
I will be registering in Mississippi (to vote) next week. I honestly havent had time but will take some days off from work to get a lot of work week stuff done.
That is when I get to write some letters about the pathetic adoption laws in this state. Some are vague, many issues are not addressed and on the subject of records being available to adoptees... oh boy do I have some opiinions.

and 111359 I think I can read exactly why an agency may hem/ haw/ not dig for the truth for you. It seems to revolve around money. that and laws allow them.
Not sure if the more you pay the more truth you get. dont you get nonID stuff from the state? I know we had to file something for that with my child's recent adoption (yes it is 'open' but not legally binding in mS).

I am a birthmother in search for make son3-22-59 and after reading PRIMAL WOUNDi realize how very important an open record is and it could end the struggles of amother and bmother as well. consider my signature as signing this petition to open adoption records in all states before it is too late.jchambers

I had read all the post on here and thought you had to be a registered voter in Mississippi to sign the petition.
I am the offspring of an adoptee. I am searching for my birth grandparents and any remaining family. My Mother was born Baby Girl Jones in Meridian, MS on 12/24/47.
I am irked at the state of MS right now. I just received what I thought would be non id info in the mail yesterday. Turns out it was a search to see if there was an affidavit of contact on file. The state now tells me I will have to get an agency to request the non id info even though the adoption was handled through a private attorney.
