Hello, I'm new here. I found this site while searching for information about adopting while being posted in Germany.
My husband and I had just started the adoption process last year when out of the blue he got posted to Germany. At first we thought we'd wait until our return to Canada in 2011 to start the process again but have since decided that we don't want to wait. We would like to know if it's possible to adopt either internationally or from Canada while we are here. We have heard of people who have done this before but have no contact information on them. Has anyone here done this or heard of anyone who has sucessfully done this? I've emailed almost every adoption agency in Canada looking for answers but nothing yet. I'm in the process of communicating with the ministry but haven't heard back yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Evelyn :)
hmmm....i guess the tough part would be getting your homestudy and your profile done. I think if I were you, I'd actually phone some agencies....you'd get faster results.

Leigh,
Why don't you contact the base religious person? Bet he/she can give you some ideas.
MANY MANY years ago ( early 70;s) friends of our adopted a German boy. He was older , as I recall around nine. They had no trouble taking the child home with them.

Yes you can do it.
A couple of friends lived in Africa for 3 years while doing missionary work and adopted a little boy. She moved back to Canada two years ago.
So, yes it can be done.
Best wishes
Jewel
thanks jewel
its always encouraging to hear success stories.
is it possible to find out which agency in canada helped your friends ,if you could ,that would be greatly appreciated.
as the agency i contacted either their quota is full for 2007 or they have a huge back log .and there are apparently only 1-2 agencies who know the process for overseas canadians
