The biological mother is described as an attractive, slim 20 year old, who became pregnant in he junior year of college. She is the second of 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy, and lives with her parents when not away at school. The maternal grandparents have been married for more than 20 years. The maternal grandmother is a college graduate and a housewife. The maternal grandfather has a PhD in chemistry and works for a large company.
The biological mother kept her pregnancy a secret, not even telling the biological father until her seventh month. Her parents took the news hard, each taking a different stand as to what she should do.
The biological mother was seen only once at Children's Bureau, where she was referred by her obstetrician for planning, before delivering the baby prematurely. Following delivery, the baby entered foster care while the biological mother thought through her decision. As one of her parents felt she should surrender the baby and the other felt she should keep the baby, the decision was very difficult. After many appointments, which included her parents, the biological mother decided that adoption was the best plan for the baby as she wanted the baby to have the security which 2 parents could provide. At present the biological mother has returned to college. The agency notified her when the baby was placed and she seemed very pleased.
The biological father is described as being very handsome, about 6'1" tall with brown eyes and hair. He is 21 years old and a senior at the same college which the biological mother attends. He is one of 3 children, having a younger brother and sister. He comes from a very close knit family who he speaks of with warmth. He was surprised to learn of the pregnancy. and expressed concern over what she endured. He thought adoption was the best plan for the baby as he was not ready for marriage, nor did he still love the biological mother. He cooperated fully in providing background materials and by signing his consent to the adoption.
The baby's paternal grandparents are high school graduates, and the paternal grandfather is an electronic technician. Extended paternal family members are high school graduates.
