This is something I've been thinking about alot lately...as i watch piles of pictures grow and grow unscrapped!! lol
I do keep at it, but I really need to sit down and scrap more often. Once I'm doing it, time flies and I love it....but it's the starting that's hard.
Where do you guys find the time? How do you make it a priority?
and how the heck do you keep up with all the pics??

Oh wow, thats a great idea Michele!
I'd been using printed pictures from the forums...but that's a much better idea, its like buying the frame and getting a picture for free!
I also saw a neat idea on Dead Zone the other night - MAGAZINE PICTURES! We all know how cute those kids are!
While we are on this topic...
Hey Diane,
Would you mind emailing me scans of your scrapbook? That would save a TON of time and energy for me.
You could be like Mel Gibson and hire a Scrapbooker to do your scrapbooking for you - I think they even have an 'official name' - Archivist.

okay....didn't get far but at least you starting this thread made me look real hard at the huge rubbermaid container of my photos that i "started" and got sidetracked. I went home yesterday and looked at the unfinished scrapbook for my grandson for Christmas and unstarted one for my son. I actually took out some photos and started cropping. Okay, i didn't get far but hey, i'm further than i was the day before:)
I don't mind being a paid archivist. But they aren't cheap - I know some make $15-$25 A PAGE :woohoo:
I started scrapbooking in the year 1999, with pictures dating back to the 1930s. I very quickly went through and basically just put down the pics and brief captions so they would be in an acid-free, displayable place, so I covered many decades in 4 years. Then, I really discovered how much I loved scrapbooking when I did our wedding album, and 4 others for family.
That said, I'm now scrapbooking the year 2004.
When I realized that I had sat down exactly twice to scrapbook, I told my husband: I am going to have my scrapbooking day, the way I used to before Jack was born. Well, it took me awhile to be able to use that time to scrapbook (as there are so many other things to do). But I realize that a) I was angry with DH for having his free time and b) I really needed something for me.
Another thing I'm doing now is going to crops held by the local MOMS Club and by a friend who is a CM consultant. Basically, I've given up other "leisure time activities" like reading, for scrapbooking.
Before Jack I had thought of becoming an "archivist" or commissioned scrapbooker. I read a lot about it, which made me realize I do not have that kind of time right now. However, when it comes to prices, you have to think about how much time goes into the page itself, but also the materials, which some people break down into a per-page charge. I know for me, I was thinking of charging a per-page charge based solely on the page, then adding fees for levels of embellishment, and for the book itself.

First of all, you are all cracking me up!
Second, I had no idea (but am not surprised) that there are professional archivists/scrapbookers out there for hire!
THird - I was so proud of myself 2 weeks ago. As soon as the babe went to bed, I started in on the coffee (with a little Bailey's in to make it drinkable, since I don't like straight coffee, and Starbuck's was too far away) and scrapped all by myself in the dining room until 1 am. I DO NOT STAY UP LATE like that any more, so it was good.
In these cooler months, we usually have a once monthly get together at different friends houses to scrap. Now that I have baby A, I never want to leave him to do this, so I plan to host one soon.
Also, our CM consultant rents out her church basement and has a standing night the 1st Sat of every month. Starting at 6 until?????? It's a half hour away, so I hate to leave babe.
(My husband is a SOUND sleeper and usually doesn't hear the baby if he wakes up before 2 or 3 am......)
I have filled one book of baby A and have pages ready to put in a 2nd. I doubt I have the first full year finished in time for the 1st bday, but I'm probably close.
My wedding on the other hand, from 11 years ago, still not done. If I'd started on it a year earlier, moving from the bad photo album the photos are in to the safe scrapbook, I could have completed it before the baby book. B ut the baby books are MUCH more fun to do!!!!

I just keep trying to find different times and places to scrap and do whatever works!
Some things local to me that work for me:
- There is a monthly crop on a Saturday all day, at a church, the crop itself is free. But CHILDCARE is offered, some of the older croppers teens watch the younger ones - Moms love it, teens love it, little ones love it!
- Several of the SAHMs organize crops during the school days every once a month or so
- Night out - maybe once every other month I go out and crop w/o the kids - either at a friends or a scrapbook store. The kids need time w/ just dad too :-D
Mine has never packed away. Am still buying more but just haven't done anything with it!!! A friend used to sell Creative Memories so she would have a scrap party every couple of weeks but with my schedule - forget it. I really need to start soon.
Leigh and Brandy - y'all had me rolling on the floor laughing!!
My girlfriend has us come over on a Friday or Saturday night once a month, after the kiddoes are in bed. We have been known to stay up until 1 or 2am!! This has worked out great because we share stamps, punches, paper, etc.
When I'm on my own I'll spread out all over the dining room table after DD goes to bed. The book I am working on right now is for my birthdaughter, for when we meet for the first time.
When I'm working on other books I'll spread out on Sunday (which is my Laundry Day) and I'll have my DD work on a craft so I'm not too distracted.
That's when I do it :thankyou:

The only reason mine got packed was due to the move (in Feb) and I've been taking my sweet time with unpacking things we don't use on a regular basis.
Yeah to me! I finished a page in my grandson's book. It was his baby dedication page. And now i'm working on his vacation page (we took him to St. Augustine FL) and his first christmas page (he was born a week before christmas last year). I'm glad you started this thread Leigh because i have got to finish this book and start on my son's before Christmas. This kickstarted me and now i'm getting excited again!
