Hello,
My dh and I are just beginning the process and we were wondering if any of you could give us some more information on Bulgaria and how it compares to Poland. One of the agencies we're looking at has programs in both countries. Any agency feedback via PM would be most appreciated. Thanks.
Kim
Bulgaria is a beautiful country, and the children are absolutely wonderful. That said, it can be very unpredictable. It is really impossible to give a time estimate anymore. What I can say is if you adopt off the special needs list, (many children on the list are very minor special needs) then I would hope you could adopt in 1 - 2 years. Adopting off the non special needs list will proably increase your wait.
Also, with Bulgaria attempting to enter the EU, there appears to be confilicting pressure on Bulgaria to place children faster, but other pressure from members of the EU not to place at all.
So, I know this probably just adds to the confusion. I would love to tell you to adopt from Bulgaria, as it is a beautiful country, and my two daughters are absolutely fabulous, and could not be more precious. But, it is a risky country, and not one that can give you assurances of a child within 2 years.

I think at this point we're starting to lean towards Poland but until we make a definite decision I'll keep my eye on Bulgaria too. Congratulations on your two daughters!
Thanks again.
