We signed placement agreements, subsidy agreements, bascially filled out all the papers to start pre-placement visits.
This is a sibling group of 3. The foster parent of the baby had petitioned for his adoption, which we knew at the time of signing all papers. We were also told that the foster parent of the 2 older siblings was not interested in adoption but today we found out that she filed a motion in probate court. How can this happen she had no intentions of adopting them but now that a family has come along she wants to adopt? So, now we have to wait for the pre-hearing to find out what the judge is going to say. But I think that isn't right of that foster mom she didn't want to adopt them until she found out that someone else was willing to. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Did you talk with the foster mom directly or did a caseworker tell you they weren't interested? Sometimes caseworkers will say anything. If your caseworker knew the baby's fosterparent wanted to adopt, why were you allowed to apply for him too? If I were you, I would talk directly with the older children's foster parents -- you might get a different story.

I would think....if the children are in a stable, healthy, loving home where they have formed attachments that having the foster parents adopt....and preventing another unnessicary move & the trauma involved with it...would be in the best intrest of the children. Perhaps the foster mom didn't think she would be able to adopt....but like a Potential Birth Mother who changes her mind once the idea of loosing their child(ren) becomes "real" and imminent....they had a change of heart. I think the best intrest of the children should come first & I don't think it would be in their best intrest for uproot them from a loving family who has cared for them for an extended period of time if it can be avoided.
You know I would totally agree with you. I would feel the same way about any child I had in my home. However, if she was offered the adoption and knew that a meeting was set for adoption why not say something. But to my understanding from all the people in that meeting that day she did not want to adopt.
Well were told by the case worker and the adoption case worker that she was not interested. We were allowed to apply for the baby also because the caseworkers involved believed that all three children should be placed together. So,they wanted to make sure that we were willing to adopt all three which we are. I am not sure who the foster parents are and if we are even allowed to speak to them right now. The kids are placed in a county 3 hours away from us.
