Hi there. I am looking for information about adopting in Ontario, Canada. I am actually doing some research for a friend of mine. She and her husband have completed a homestudy, but have not been chosen by birth parents for a domestic adoption yet. Although they originally signed up for a Korean adoption program, new changes to the process have made it virtually impossible for them to adopt from Korea. I'm looking for info on your adoption experiences - domestic or international. Counties of interest: China, Vietnam, Latin America. Any ideas, tips, insights would be GREATLY appreciated.
Just wanted to say hi! I'm in Ontairo, but I'm adopting (or trying to) through the CAS. What types of info are you looking for specifically?

Hi there,
Also in Ontario, Durham Region. We finalized the adoption of our dd through CAS in August of 2005.
The Canadian government has some really good websites that provide information on adoption, both international and domestic, including approximate costs and wait times. They're pretty easy to find if you google them.
Best of luck,
Allana

I'm in Simcoe County and going through CAS to adopt. just saying hello to all. As you can see from my signature it is along process when going through CAS.
Hi CHJH, we to are adopting through our local CAS in ontario. One thing to remember, is that things vary from region to region (waiting times, ages of children ect.) The CAS used to hold an information session where you could go and inquire about adoption within your community. I believe now that if you are interested, you contact the local office and they send an adoption worker out to meet with you to discuss adoption. After that if you are interested, you will be invitited to attend the PRIDE training (9 wks) and once that is completed they will work on getting your homestudy finished. We are currently waiting for final approval. Once we have that, we will be on the waiting list.:happydance: All in all, I have to say that the whole process went fairly smooth for us. I have to admit, I was scared to death when we first started the process just because the fate of our dream was in the hands of our adoption worker. I quickly learned not to build a situation up to be more than it had to be. :)
