Hi everyone - I'm new here. I want to know if you can tell me how to post pics. I've already re-sized so they were smaller jpegs, then re-sized again so it's 300x240 (or something like that). I get an error message that just says it could not load my jpeg. Now what?
Holly
I had problems with this to.... once you add the image to your post- copy & paste it in... then go and change the size to 300.It will have the height & length in brackets, just erase the bigger size and type in 300 & 300 to make the picture small enough to fit your post.. anything under 500 works... if you want to put two pictures in make them smaller.
does that make sense?so in your post it will look like this ( Im guessing from memory here)
< img.src.My children at the beach, jpeg height 1200, length 1600>
change those two numbers, hit preview and you will see how it looks.
email me if you need any help
welcome

On sizing: to simplify things, you can actually take out the height="600" or whatever -- the width tag is enough to resize the picture, and that way you don't have to mess around with trying to keep it proportional.
On uploading: I've found that the helpful little program won't recognize files that don't end in .jpg, .gif or .png -- if your jpegs end in a .jpeg, (or .jp2 or any other extension) then the system won't like 'em.
Hi Holly,
First: It's a GREAT idea to resize your photos before you upload... not so much for the width (around 400 works best for the largest, but 250-300 will allow the words to wrap around them)... but for the weight. When you upload the original HUGE photo, the "weight" - which affects the time it takes to load on the site - doesn't change just because the physical size is made smaller.
Since you do resize before uploading, when you save the resized photo, make sure you reduce the resolution (the "weight") to under 50k.
Grant's advice about the extensions is spot on! Only those 3 types of images will work in the system.
If you have further problems, email me and I can walk you through it.
Thanks all - I did resize prior to attempting to post, but it appears that there is a technical glitch. Looking forward to it working after Christmas. ;)
I know others have had trouble with the program at first, too. Seems to be a little glitchy.
By the way, Holly, did you get an email from me just before your first post? I saw your name on the blogger list and was so excited to find you there! You're a great addition to the team and I look forward to reading you here, as well as the other places I usually find you.

I am having trouble with this as well. I think I was loading the "heavy" pic and then resizing by changing the number (as mentioned above), but now that I understand they must be made smaller BEFORE loading to the blog I am lost. I have tried to downsize several of my pics, but the resolution is awful. Can anyone offer some further advice?
I quickly resize photos via Paint. This program comes with Windows. It is located under Start Menu-->Accessories.
I will open the photo and look at the width and height first. I do this via the Image-->Attributes menu.
So if it is 600x600, I will then go to Image-->Stretch/Skew menu. I will do 50% by 50%.
If I don't like the way it looks, I will undo via the Edit menu. I will try a different height/width until I like what I see.
Sometimes I decide to crop the photo by hand (just use the selection tool).
It rarely takes me more then 2 minutes messing with the photo.
I have a question -- is there any convenient way for bloggers to see a directory of image files we've already uploaded to the system? I try to reuse the same files when appropriate (rather than upload the same image into two or more different files) but I'm never entirely sure what's in there and what I haven't used before.
If not, no worries.
