I was looking for more information on adopting a child from Brazil, preferable not through a agency. I also need to know if there are age requirements I am only 20 and my fiancee is 21. You will currently find it difficult to adopt from Brazil if you reside in the US. Due to the signing and ratification of the Hague Agreements on International adoptions. I don't know for sure, but I believe the Hague Agreements does not allow for independent adoptions. You may only use agencies that have been approved by the country sending the child. LIMIAR still places children from Brazil in the US. However, infants are seldom available.

As a Brazilian he will have priority and he will be able to adopt a baby, no problem about it. The only problem is that you need to be a least 21 years of age. Well, you will until you have all the documents settled. : )
There are states that still accepts independents adoption.
