I know you're out there fellow Chicago suburbanites! We adopted our son through a local agency five years ago and have been trying to adopt independently for two years now and have experienced some bumpy roads along the way. Would love to chat with anyone in Chicagoland going through the adoption process; domestic or international :) God bless you!!Kirsten:coffee: (Me with my coffee)

Hi everyone. Would anyone be interested in getting together to talk about our adoption/foster experiences? I just noticed how many folks have posted to this thread. I'm in the western suburbs, maybe meet at a Caribou at one of the big tables by a fireplace?? Gotta keep warm!! Ideally it would be great to bring our kiddos along, but realistically that might be hard to organize off the bat. Bring pictures!!! PM me if interested and tell me which evenings/afternoons would work for you and let me know where you're located. I'll see what we can put together :-)Blessings!!Kirsten

Hi, we're in Oak Park, just outside of Chicago. We're just starting the process of adopting a second time and we'd love to meet other families that have adopted or are in the process! My daughter is 4, will be 5 in April. We're also going to adopt again domestically, probably through an agency in Texas. Sonya

we have not used journeys (but are considering it) we have been using lcfs. we were recently dissapointed when we had a failed placement of an aa infant (we found the bm privately) with them and they did not offer much aftercare to us or the woman who lost her son. we are not sure if we want to pursue things with them or look in to others. we didn't feel they offered support after the failed placement. any experience with others in the area?
Hi everyone. It seems like we have a few folks who would be interested in getting together. Could we meet for coffee? It looks like we're scattered all over the Chicago area, how does the Randall Road area in Geneva sound? I am free the last week of March. What does Thursday night, March 29th look like? PM me if interested and I can work on location and time. BTW, we are MATCHED!!! Baby is due May 2 in Florida. We are very excited but cautious too....

HI, we have not adopted yet, or even started the process but its nice to know there is support out there for when we do. :)
We would be adopting a sibling group from Kenya. Just waiting to hear from the adoption agency as to if they are eligible for adoption. Then we will start our homestudy .... and off we go :)
Hi!I am a mom of 5...3 bio and 2 adopted from Russia. I started a local adoption support group for people interested in Adoption...domestic or international. My group consists of about 20 families right now all in various stages of adoption. Some just thinking about it...some waiting...some have already adopted. We cover all topics of Adoption and sometimes have guest speakers to help us.We meet in the Gurnee, IL area. With summer coming we will probably have a picnic including kids too!Go to Everything for Adoption to find out more! I also offer a monthly phone chat for long distance adoptive parents to meet with each other...just ask!
