Hi everyone in Riverside county!
Its been a long while since I've been on this forum so I was just wondering how everyone was doing? Hope all is well. Since we switched our home to a foster home its been the best thing we did. We only take babies under 12mth and It has been a blessing to love & care for each one.
I know I already get to chat with some of you on FB which is great!
Much love from your fellow Riverside foster home:)

My DH and I are in Riv. County, although our only placement is from LA:). Squishy is a NREFM emergency placement, and we are praying his case leads to adoption. It's listed as concurrent right now, with the next hearing in May. Ironically, we just received our license in the mail last Tuesday. On Wednesday we got a call from our adoptions worker telling us she was closing our file until Squishies case was figured out. So, although we would have loved to have another little one or two to love on, we have to wait a bit.

My husband and I were approved through Riverside County as an adoptive home in June of last year for up to 3 children, up to 9 years of age (our preference). Within 3 days, we had a call to take a newborn baby boy who needed placement in an adoptive home as his siblings were already in the process of TPR and his case would be headed that way as well. We had really wanted siblings but couldn't pass up such a wonderful opportunity! We took placement and about a month and a half later, we received a call that two of his siblings, a boy age 3 and girl, age 2 needed placement as the foster family that was to adopt them changed their mind. We happily agreed and have had all 3 ever since last August. The boy and girl have had TPR granted, no appeals and we expect to have an adoption date within the next week or two. Services were terminated with parents on our baby boy and TPR was supposed to happen last month; however, Mom claimed she actually isn't sure who the Dad is, so that stopped the hearing in order for the County to do public filings to locate potential father and new court date is now set for April 10. We expect TPR to be granted eventually as he is baby number 6 for her and she doesn't have custody of any of the children/all rights terminated. We hope to have his adoption finalized around late summer.I must say that we are so grateful for the kiddos that have come into our lives but wow, the social workers have been tough to work with! I know they are over worked, but it so tough to get any help, response or advice from them. We have been very fortunate to seek out services to help our little ones develop and catch up on our own or with the assistance of our pediatrician, as most calls to their social workers go unreturned. If anyone needs help or advice in getting assistance for delayed toddlers or toddlers with slight learning disabilities, I will be happy to share our resources with you.Good luck to all of you with placements and adoptions! So we are scheduled for our first home study on 3/17/14, last tues I get a call about a newborn baby boy if we could take him! Of course! I was in total shock, within 2 hours the baby was in my arms. CSW stated mom had mutiple children taken away, father was in prison. I signed 2 pieces of papers and she left, I just didn't feel right. We hadn't done our home study why were we on the list, against my better judgement I called our SW and left her a message about getting a baby. 2 days go by and she finally calls back and says" what do you mean they gave you a baby, you can't have him.you haven't done your home study!"
Well my response was you should come and do it cause I'm already in love with him. She called back just to say they were picking him up and we couldn't keep him.
Heartbreaking, this wasn't our fault, how can they do this? I understand there in a risk with adopting but if your doomed from the start with a mistake, how is that fair????
I've emailed asking why we couldn't keep him through the process, with no response.
Is this typical of how the process works???

No not one word,I guess I'm going to have to wait until my appt for the homestudy to get any answers.Do you know if they reunite the kids with the parents if both are on probation, unemployed and one in rehab?
No they placed him in another foster home, that's just what I can't get my head around is that they will place the children back into the home of someone who breaks the law, does drugs, unemployed, they may have abused the children in the past but we have to do background checks, home inspections, verification of employment, classes just to take care of the children.im so new to this so I'm still a little shocked lol.I just want to provide a safe and loving home for them.

kikijures so happy to hear you guys are doing great! praying for smooth outcome from here on out.
j1rivera8 We had a similar situation last year...we had been license for 4 yrs but we were on hold and we moved upon moving we got our new home inspected by the state let the county know we moved they said everything look good gave me the ok to start taking placements got a placement 2weeks into the placement I get a call from the placement supervisor telling me there going to have to pick up baby because our home study was invalid! say what!!! it was a bunch of crap! they picked up the baby within the hour. I was livid and super sad. I had it out with acouple of people that day!:grr: I don't see why they couldn't leave the baby in our home the only thing that needed to be change on our homestudy was our new address everything else was the same.
so sorry you guys had to go through that! are you with the county or an agency?
Beccam98 whos your adoption worker? why don't you guys get on the foster placement list until you find out what happens with your current placement?

Hi! My husband and I are new to this whole thing...we went to the first meeting and are now in the process of getting our paper work together......we have had a little experience with riverside county... took in a friends grandaughter and had her about 3 months...she went back to dad....anyway...reading some of the posts i have to say im getting scared......has anyone had a good experience??
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I just saw this!! Our adoption worker is Ana Campos, she has been pretty cool so far. We would love to take a foster placement, but according to Ana, we can't until our little squishy's case is settled. So, while we completely and utterly enjoy having him, and pray he stays forever, we have to wait for anymore placements. We are slightly frustrated, but trusting that all will work out for the best in the end.
