Hi there!
As a birthmother, I know how important it is that I knew my rights within the adoption process and that they were protected. I am grateful that I worked with an agency that worked hard to protect these rights as I learned the value a good agency provides. I dread to think of the situations that can arise when birthmother rights are taken advantage of. I think by thoroughly knowing their rights, a birthmother can make the most informed decision which can result in a very positve adoption experience. Therefore, I am creating a blog to post information on birthmother rights and state legislature on adoption as an additional resource for women seeking adoption. I wanted to share this blog website with you to invite you to post any information you have regarding your state laws and how they pertained to your experience. If you include specifics on any state laws please also include the source you received this information from. If you are a women seeking adoption as an option and have any questions on your rights, I also invite you to participate to find more information or post any questions you have so that I can research for an answer. In addition, if you are an adoption professional, I am sure you have much knowledge on various legal aspects of adoption and would love to learn from you as well (Please also include your sources of information). The blog website is Know Your Rights as a Birthmother. If you prefer, you can send me any of your thoughts or questions in this forum or in a PM. I'm excited to read your posts and learn from your experiences...Thanks!
