Hi! After reading an article in our local diocese's paper about families who really involve their kids in Lenten meal prep and use it for time of discussion about why we abstain from meat at certain times, I got to thinking about what special traditions and practices I want to do w/ our kids during one of my favorite times of the year.
What special things do you do with your families during Lent?
Mostly, I remember growing up having the rice bowl, meatless Fridays and holy days (mom didn't make us fast when we were little), and my favorite - Stations of the Cross. Plus the usual lenten sacrifices, penance and special things to work on.
This Lent, I'm trying to focus on making our home more Christ-centered, and trying to spend extra time praying about being a good wife and mother. I need to begin thinking of ways to involve my toddler in this season.
Stork,
I love that we have either tuna casserole or fish sticks and still do to this day. We also always have a dinner once at our church during Lent and then do the stations of the cross. This year I hope Kelcee will enjoy this part. I love now that she loves to say grace before we eat every night. She folds her hands and looks at us until we are done then claps.
