If every adoptee from the state of Louisiana wrote a letter asking for the state to open our files, do you think it would have an impact? So many other states are doing it now.

You might try petitioning the court instead :)
However, writing to a state rep will help. If all of the like-minded adoptees realized there were so many like-minded individuals than yes, I think some real good could get accomplished. A big problem, IMO, is that manypeople do not realize how many others are out there that share their feelings. Wishing the records were open. Esp in Louisiana, many ppl there feel that the adopted family is your only family... etc etc... and disrespectful to search...
Not all adoptees are taken in by that story though.
