Hi there!
My name is Erin, I'll be 25 in a week and a half. My husband's name is Michael and he's 26. We have a baby girl and her name is Jocelyn. She'll be a year old on July 31st.
I am here looking for information about step parent adoption. Although my husband does have two girls that aren't mine, it isn't to adopt them (although I would LOVE to). Its about my step dad adopting me.
I have a long story, well to me it seems long and I guess I might start a journal to get it all down, but I am looking for information to have my stepdad adopt me. I dunno if its even possible now since I am over 18, but if anybody has any information that could help me, I would appreciate it. I am extremely new to this.
I live in Iowa if that helps.

Welcome. I can't speak to your particular situation, but I do know that adult adoptions are possible (maybe easier in some cases, because you don't have to get the birth parents' permission.) All you need is a judge who doesn't think you're nuts!

Well, I did contact a family lawyer last week. And he said it's going to be fairly simple and that the longest it should take is 45 days. The cost of it will be about $650-$700. So now we're just going to save up the money and have it done. Thanks so much for your help!
