I am sure that his name is not the same now because when he was 9 months old he was taken away from my mom and adopted out. At that time, she was 18, unwed and homeless so she let her aunt take care of him for a couple weeks until she could find a way to find someplace they could both stay. During this time her aunt decided that she wanted the baby and didn't want to give him back to my mom. I believe she thought she could take better care of him than my mom could so she tried to get custody of him. Social Services got involved, and a social worker named Jim Antrim handled this case. Since my mom and her aunt were both fighting over the baby they believed niether of them should have him and they ultimately talked my mother into putting him up for adoption. They told her the best thing she could do for the baby was to put him up for adoption and promised that he would be placed with an Indian family. Since my mom and brother are both Native American, she thought that the right decision at the time would be to allow him to be adopted by an Indian family that could take care of him. Like I said before, she was 18, unmarried and homeless, she wanted to give him a better chance at life. She said it was the hardest thing she ever did in her life and to this day she wishes she could tell him how she loved and wanted him but realized he needed more than she could give. We believe that he was adopted by a white family instead and that he still might be in South Dakota somewhere. I've been trying to find out how I can get in contact with him. I've called the Courthouse and Social Services in Sisseton, SD, they told me to call Child Protection Services in Watertown, SD. But I haven't really found out anything yet. My mom believes that he may have been adopted by a couple from Vermillon, SD. He would have graduated from high school in 1988. He could be going to college in Black Hills State University or another college in South Dakota. His last name may have been changed to "Reib, Rieb or Leib", we don't which one or if it is even one of these last names. This is all the information I have so far. Hopefully someone will be able to give me more information.IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU OR YOU MIGHT KNOW SOMEONE WHO FITS THIS DESCRIPTION, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION SO THAT WE CAN FIND HIM. HE NEEDS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HIMSELF AND THE FAMILY HE PROBABLY NEVER KNEW HE HAD. HE ALSO NEEDS TO KNOW HOW MY MOM ALWAYS LOVED HIM, THINKS ABOUT HIM ALL THE TIME. HOW SHE WONDERS ALL THE TIME WHERE HE IS, HOW HE LOOKS AND HOW SHE CRIES EVERY YEAR ON THE DAY OF HIS BIRTHDAY. SHE WANTS TO REUNITE WITH HIM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DUE TO HEALTH REASONS SHE IS GOING BLIND. HE HAS 3 BROTHERS AND A SISTER WHO WANT HIM IN THEIR LIFE.PLEASE CONTACT ME AT 605-932-3624 (HOME), OR 1-800-658-4785 EXT. 454 (WORK).
