THe deacon at our church said he will baptize K and will just wait on the paperwork until finalization! (Thanks for the info Journey!) So, Aug. 12 we are set for the baptism. Is it customary to give a donation to the church or a stipend to the deacon on the day of the baptism?

Oh my. I did not even think about giving a donation. We did for our marriage, but I didn't think about it for the baptism. I wouldn't for confirmation or First Communion, so I guess that's why it didn't even cross my mind for this! But we did it during a Mass, so it's not as if he had to schedule us into a day or make a special plan to do it.
I am sooo thrilled for you!!! I'm glad it worked out! I know the feeling and the relief of having it happen. I will say a prayer for your family for a very special day.We gave our regular suday donation to the church and also an envelope with a card and donation to the deacon. Donation to the priest (or deacon in our case too) was discussed at our classes. And because of the special circumstances and our deacon jumping through hoops at the last minute, we gave him a nice thank you card with a nice donation in it.

We have to wait to baptize until finalization as well. With our older son, we did do a donation to the church as it was stated in the class that it was customary to do so.
Congratulations on your upcoming day! We are waiting for our court date to set our son's baptism date and I can't wait!
