It never dawned on me, till I read elsewhere, that this might be a freakishly odd situation.
M and her family are coming out at Christmas time for the holidays.
They intend to come out for a few days, then go back - leaving M here for a few more days/a week - then she'll go back.
So, I'm wondering - since "Santa" will be coming to our house this year for her...what kinds of things should I be looking for for her?
Keep in mind - my Christmas shopping has been done for eight months now...so this shopping in Oct/Nov (after tickets are purchased to ensure they are coming) is all new to me.
What do 12 year old girls like?
We have a fully open, very awesome open adoption. There isn't a single thing I could buy her (age apro) that her parents would disagree with...so please, go crazy!
I am thinking some clothes.
Some nail polish
Maybe an Ipod Shuffle
I also thought about taking her and getting her ears pierced (something we wanted to do while she was here a few months ago, but never got around to) then buying her some nice ear rings :)
What are your ideas?

NEATO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Our son's parents always asked us to "quiz" our son each year to get his wish list.Then we would decide who got what gift for him-so that he had no doubles. Too bad he always recieved some doubles anyways-lol!! Best laid plans and all-swept away by the excitement of Christmas shopping.

I like the earrings idea! Plus going for manicures/pedicures. Or doing your own at home, which I think at that age can be fun. Of course, if you went somewhere, you could have HER pick out your colors! That would be fun, I think. You may come home with purple. :) Actually, I like all the ideas mentioned on here. That's so great that you are spending Christmas together. I love that.
