My friend and adoption coordinator is in Bulgaria right now on vacation with her family. While there, they are visiting several orphanages, making donations and painting playground equipment. She wrote this as one small part of her e-mail. It touched me so deeply and made me so sad that I felt compelled to pass it on.
Another night in the orphanageŅŅ..
As we left this morning a darling little three year old ran to me and grabbed my hand while pounding her chest and saying me? me? me?ӔŅŅ..the children know what it means when an American couple comesŅ..some one has a mommy and daddyŅI was reminded why I work as hard as I doŅ..
If you are considering giving up on Bulgaria, I urge you to stick it out a little longer. With the new MOJ, the Bulgarians are expecting things to pick up soon, and move rapidly when they do. I am saying many prayers that they are right.
Kay - we have been registered with the MOJ since July of 2005...and have never heard a peep. We would love nothing more than to finally get a referral from Bulgaria but at this time we are in the process of updating our paper work with BCIS and don't feel we really have a choice but to move on. The agency we used to start the process doesn't have much information or seem to think that things will improve there and we have all ready paid so much money that we are told was sent to Bulgaria. I don't know if after all this time we can find a more agressive agency - if that is even legal - but you post really hit me. I just don't know what to do. If you have any suggestions we are open to them. Thanks.
