Hey guys, I already kinda introduced myself here. I have been getting into a lot of symbolism and things like that recently. I have always wondered what is a symbol of adoption? I am actually thinking of getting a tattoo symbolism that. I have seen the triangle with a heart in it and I even made my own of having a triangle with 3 hearts in it (my adoptive mom and dad and me). Then I thought about using animals. Something like birds??

I guess the meaning of that symbol does make sense now.
Considering I nor my parents know pretty much NOTHING about my birth parents, it may not be appropriate.
I have decided to actually get something else :D
I am going to get 2 cardinals ( m and f) and a blue jay with roses. My mother's favorite bird is the cardinal and so the 2 would be my parents and I would be the blue jay. The roses (red) symbolize love, passion, wisdom and devotion :love:

Especially cannot wait for my parents reaction. Oh I have other tattoos as well and they will see them all at once. They know nothing about any of them. They are coming at the end of Feb so I want them to see in person. We will see if they appreciate this one or just hate it cuz it's a tattoo

I've actually been thinking about getting an adoption related tattoo lately. I do like the adoption symbol, but I want to make it my own. I was thinking of doing a simple penrose triangle (impossible triangle) with a heart enclosed in it.
Adoption is complicated (at least for me), sometimes the feelings don't make sense and you are led in a strange direction. I like the impossible triangle instead of just a regular triangle. Kinda shows how complicated it can be.
I have a few sketches of what I want, but I am still thinking about it. I have no idea where I want it yet.

Adoption is wholeheartedly embraced in this country. NPR obviously wanted to take the easy route by continuing to make adoption look like it has its challenges but nothing that the love of adoptive parents cannot solve.

I find this insistence that the love of APs can solve everything particularly (and bitterly) ironic because young and disadvantaged pregnant women being targeted for relinquishment pressure have always been told that their love is not enough.

I find it interesting that one symbol can be seen 20 different ways by 20 different people. I love the triangle because I never saw the sides representing power but of importance. I believe that all sides are equally important. I have a friend that sees it as "Past, Present and Future." All equally important to shaping who you are.

I am really scared of telling them about the tatto now :( I actually have a total of 3 now and they don't know about any of them. They are ALL highly symbolic so that might lessen the blow? I am not sure.I couldn't help but wonder and didnt' wanna wait till they come out here and visit me in a few weeks so I asked my mother "would you be mad if I got a tattoo??"We talked on the phone and she said yes. She said she doesn't want me to damage my body anymore like I did with piercings, which she never liked. She was afraid of me getting illnesses like HEP C, etc. I understand that but I went to very clean and reputable places for my tattoos. I understand how concerned they are and protective they are but I am 24 and the tattoos I have are paid for by my $$ that I saved and earned. My mother's argument was that she would feel "used" or "betrayed" since she says she helps me out. They have only helped me out once recently and it is when I asked and it was only like $50 but they ended up sending a lot more. That money had nothing to do with tattoos. I will have to call and tell them but I am scared based on that conversation I had with my mom :( Thinking of talking to my dad first about it
