Well Cameron got his first knot on his head today. And his second... The first happened while I was outside with the dog. Cameron was sitting on the linoleum floor right inside the door and I was watching him through the window. He tried to stand up and fell down. The second was just a little bit ago. I was at the sink cleaning potatoes for dinner and he was playing with his Fridge Phonics three feet behind me. All of a sudden I heard a crack. I'm having a horrible mommy day. My kid has two big knots one on either side of his forehead and it is my fault. And I just started in home child care. People are paying me to watch their kids. I am terrified now that this will happen to a daycare kid. Of course dh did not make it any better when he told me I was a bad mommy. I know he was joking, but it still hurt... I don't like this learning to walk phase...

My dd swung a leash (metal tipped end) that hit her right on the side of her forehead...I watched this looney tunes version of a lump GROW right before my eyes....she was *4* by the way...the NEXT DAY, she was playing with her cousin and they fell, she didn't smack the OTHER side of her forehead until cousin came down too...BAM right on the ceramic tile....again, the looney tunes growing goose egg....It looked for ALL THE WORLD like she was growing horns out of her forehead for 2 weeks! The accidents haven't stopped yet....this summer she ran into some plywood, and has a lovely pirate scar going from chin to eyeball right across her cheek...I'm just gonna start saving NOW for laser scar removal for her instead of college! HAHAHA

DS will be 2.5 on H'ween and...-still uses a "bink"
-has absolutely NO interest in using the potty
OK, I'll add to the bad mommy stories. We're having incredible weather right now---sunny, crisp, 65-70 degrees, so H wants to be outside. Within 15 minutes, he had 7 mosquito bites ON HIS BEAUTIFUL FACE ( including one on his eyelid.) He is pretty sensitive to them, so these aren't little bumps, they're nickel sized welts. His birthday party is Saturday and he looks like he has Ebola. He's on Benadryl and cortisone cream---cross your fingers for a recovery by Saturday.
OMG, my DS gets THOUSANDS of bites too, it seems. I guess cos our boys are so sweet? ;-)
I keep joking to DH that if for some reason we had to take him to the dr, she'd think we were abusing him with all the welts, scabs (he itches them till they bleed, yes we've tried cortisone) and bruises, on his legs alone.
On that note...I hear Avon stuff is good to keep bugs away...is that true?

We used AVON last year. I bought a bottle this year, but haven't had to use it yet. I think I've had 2 bites all summer. So, I guess that's one plus for the drought this year..... Sadie - SO not a bad mama!!! My little guy won't be in preschool until after he's 3, IF then. And if he wants to really start potty training in 6 months, well okay, but if not, I'm just hoping we are finished with it by 3.5 or 4. And binky - I LOVE that plug in church! And I still use it at nap/bed time. Don't know when I'll quit - I thought about doing it at 2, but since that's a month away, well...... HBV - Poor H! But I can't believe the bday party is here already! Do you have a theme this year? We're splitting A's up again. Couldn't make the calendar work for 48 guests (and that's ONLY VERY close family and 3 sets of friends who are meaningful in our lives) , so we'll do my side of the family one weekend and T's side of the family the next. But very low key casual cake get togethers.... I'm already NOT looking forward to housing all the new toys!!!! I just hope we get a mountain of AA and AAA batteries to go with them all.... Or people take my "boring" bday list seriously...
Bites are better, but not great today. Cortisone and Benadryl seem to be working---my guess is they'll still be visible by Saturday, but maybe he'll look less like we tried to burn him with cigarettes. Party theme this year is all about trains, as H is obsessed. I'm not a fan of all the licensed character stuff, though, so it's just trains, not Thomas. We made invitations on Publisher, DH has an iPod playlist of songs about trains (who knew there were so many?!) I spent last Sunday afternoon baking and decorating train shaped cookies, made 60 train car cupcakes last night (cute pan from Williams-Sonoma---each cake is a different car) We have engineer overalls and a red bandana for H, red bandanas, engineer caps and train whistles for the kids, and Nanny 1 (the artist) is coming tonight to help me make a "train" from cardboard boxes for the front yard. Grandparents have been around all week powerwashing the patio, planting flowers, etc. In a stunning display of generosity, one of our best pals is giving up an entire day at the office to make his famous Carolina BBQ for the party. I bought almost 40 lbs. of meat last night. I am obviously crazy .....but about my son, so that's OK, right?;)
HBV, is this his second birthday party? How fun! I went bananas this year again....afterwards, I decided that next year I am going to do something smaller and maybe at the "Y" or something! I always call myself sarcastically "MOTY" ("mother of the year") because DD always seems to get "into trouble," "knocked around," etc. when I am alone with her. Just two weeks ago she fell in the pool! AIIIYY! There's no limit to mother's guilt, I have learned!
Yep. "TWO!" He's been all about the party this week. If you say "party" he says "CAKE!" (mind you, he doesn't even really like cake.) He's been a wild man all week----I have lost count of all the new words. This morning, DH was telling the nanny about bedtime last night and used the phrase "wailing like a banshee". So for about 15 minutes before we left, H is running around saying "BANSHEE!"

OK , Storm, I love it:
"I love the binky. *I* still use it at nap/bed time. *I* don't know when *I'll* quit". LOL Thanks for making my day. ;-)
Also, WHICH Avon is it specifically? I looked at their "bug" line and they had so many! Help!
HBV-ACK! I have a train obsessed boy too (although we did fire trucks for his bday in April). In fact, we are doing the "Thomas' Train Ride Out" tomorrow and *I* am so excited!
