Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. My DH and I are in PA and recently got some info from the Allentown Catholic Social Agency (Catholic Charities) from a co-worker. The info is about a year and a half old but we were impressed by what we read. We are looking into domestic infant adoption. Does anyone have any experience with them or any other Catholic Charities Adoption - not having to be Allentown specifically. I'm looking into fees, wait times, bmom counseling, etc... Please PM me! Thank you in advance for your help.
A guy I work with adopted an infant through the Diocese of Lafayette Louisiana. I don't know if race played a part in how long his adoption took, but they wanted an African American baby, and his whole process took about 6 months. In fact he and his wife moved when they were 4 months into their wait when they got a call for a referral. They turned it down because of the timing since they were still finishing building the house they were moving into, but it didn't take long to get another referral. He also told me his adoption cost less than $5000. That was about 4 years ago I think. They were very pleased with their outcome.

I adopted my first son through Catholic Social Services of Philadelphia. The experience was mostly positive. However we are attempting our second adoption and the agency has been less than responsive. I suspect they are grossly underfunded and overworked. We are looking for another agency, since we are so disappointed.
