I realize this could be a scarey thing.... me actually thinking....lol
But tell us about yourself...if you want tell us where you live, how many children, what do you do(work, stay at home mom), hobbies, what is your favorite thing to do with your children/family, and what ever you would love to share.
Hope to here from many of you!!
Maricela, I to would love to know where time goes...lol
I bet the kids are excited about the new puppy?! We have a golden lab and when she was a puppy she ate and chewed everything. For some reason she loved to chew on wood and she chewed off each corner of our deck outside. Dh and I joke to this day that she was just making the deck kid friendly (no sharp corners all rounded)....lol

We used to live in a REALLY small town in South Dakota, but we live in a city now. I'm 47 and DH is 46. We've been married for 10 years. DD is 2 1/2 and came to us at 4 days old. She was a cute little jack-o-lantern tonight.
I'm a Database Manager and DH, until he became ill with Bell's Palsy, was a Technologies Manager. He's doing better now and looking for a new job. My 80 year old Mother also lives with us. She is too frail to live alone anymore. I'll have to tell you, for awhile there mornings and bedtime were really hectic with Mother, DD and DH all needing assistance. Things are easier now days.
We are avid sports fans, including Mother. One of DD's first words was "touchdown". :cheer: We are also geeks and have several computers in the living room alone. We are avid readers and students of history. OK, the little one is more into Sponge Bob than middle European post 1066 political thought or the origins of the Spanish-American war, but she's still little. ;)
I've been on these boards a long time now and have lately been kind of disenchanted, but I'm still around now and then.
Nice to meet all of you!
JPDakota....I so understand having 2 things in your living room....lol
We have in our small house 5 desk top computers and 2 laptops not counting the 2 tvs in our living room.
Most people don't understand the 2 tv's in our living room....lol
Nice to meet you! Hope to chat with you again!
Yeah, we get grief about our 2 side by side TV's in the living room. The third one is over to the side for enhanced viewing from the dining area. But how in the heck can you catch a couple of football games and the NASCAR race at the same time? Let alone History's Mysteries and Blue's Clues. I mean, a person has to be practical. :3d:
I did mention we're geeks, right?
JPDakota you sound way to much like our family....lol
Its a good thing. My 7 year old loves the computer as much as daddy does and has become very good with the computer. That is why he has his own page and his own sites that he can visit nothing more.
With 2 TV's in the same room and 2 different receivers the kids can watch different things...not sure how....lol with the sound. But you will see them switch what they are watching.
Dh is on cloud nine because he finally got his HD TV and satellite. He is not really into sports but he loves to watch our Colts in HD.

Hi everyone! I will be 52 this month and DH will be 50 in February. YIKES! We have been together for 12 years and married almost 2 years now. I am orginally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and my husband is from England. We now live in Shelby Twp. MI where we have resided for many years. DH is a Manager of Information Systerms....(chief geek) and I am a Special Education Teacher working with severely physically and cognitively impaired children. We are waiting for our daughter in China. This will be my first and only child. Well.....most of my friends and family think we are absolutely nuts that we would want to become parents at our age. And as the wait continues to grow, they may be right! But...we are in for the long haul and hope and pray that we stay healthy and energized so we can go get our daughter and bring her home when we get our referral. Because we are "older" adoptive parents we have asked for a girl as young as possible, up to 5 years of age. So....we'll see.
In our spare time my husband likes to fish, work on his marine aquarium, run and chat on several sites on the computer (military, geneology, computer stuff). I like to shop, read, crochet, walk, scrapbook and redecorate as time permits.
I am on the forum reading often, but actually forgot about this "Over 40" thread. I'm glad I remembered as I love to share with those who understand and can share our excitement and frustrations as we wait.
Adrian and Jean nice to meet you! How long is your wait for your daughter? Can't wait to hear the good news when she is home with you both. Please keep us posted!!!
Noone really knows what CCAA in China will do, but it looks like the wait right now is at least two years and growing. When we started the process back in June of 2006, the wait was about 12-15 months from the time our documents were "logged in" in China. Our official log in date is 01/24/07, so we have a very long wait ahead of us. Many are choosing to switch to the waiting child list (children with special needs) or switch countries, but because of our age, we really don't have any other options. So we wait. The scariest part for us is that nothing can change for us...life has to kind of stand still in many areas including our health, our finances, our location, etc. Life is not like that....it is very hard to just keep waiting without worrying that something may interfere that will make it difficult for us. We had no idea that we would still have such a long wait ahead of us to get our referral. And our age is the biggest concern (although I say this.....we really don't feel too old to be sharing our love and life with our child, no matter how old she is or we are). Any support and encouragement while we wait is greatly appreciated. :thanks:
Hi All!
I am Deb,47, (as of the 28th) and DH is Brad, 53. We live in the beautiful land of enchantment, New Mexico.
I am the SAHM of three-two of whom were adopted from Vietnam 5+ years ago. They are 7 and 10 now. We also have a bio-son, 8. These are the three still at home, together we raised a blended family of teenagers who are grown and out on their own now. Our grandbabies are 5, 3 and 5 mos.
Completing our family are Buttercup and Rosebud our Olde English Mastiffs, Dook-Dook and Daisy our ferrets and Posey, Bobbin and Sparkle our kitties. Various and sundry other creepy crawlies are Ginger the Tarantula, Vinnie the Vinegaroon (whiptail scorpion) and Morty and Millie our African Millipedes.
We are hoping soon to be fostering to adopt a child or children 0-5 years old-waiting to be licensed any day now. Our home study was supposd to be written up by the end of October......sigh!
I am so glad to find others who are in our age bracket who are likeminded to us, actively pursuing adopting and raising kids! It's what we LOVE doing.

Adrian and Jean I am so sorry for the long waitl I wish I could change the wait time and just want you to know we are here to talk to. Talk to us about anything okay? Just remember we are here for you!
Tuppy....What a wide range of critters you have in your family....ummmm the spider has me concerned....lol
But you know the rest of the animals sound really awesome. My boys would think it is so cool to have all of these animals in our house today.
Great to meet you and keep us posted as you go forward with foster and your family. Love to hear more.
How could I forget to mention my beautiful, loving calico cat named "Seafur" that we "adopted" about 4 years ago? She was living in our back yard, sleeping in a bed she made in the tall grass by the bird feeder.....hmmmmm. Well, I brought her in when it got too cold and she's been a house cat ever since. I just love her! We also have a 250 gallon marine aquarium that is home to 8 beautiful marine fish, two long spiney urchins, a huge saddleback anenome, and many blue legged crabs and snails. Some think we are nuts....but we do have names for most of them.:fish:
Oh wow....that is a huge aquarium. My boys would love to have fish. We live in a very small house and we just don't have the room right now.
Our cat came into our home similar except it was next door and no one wanted him. Dh said no but he was to adorable for me to let him go so he has been a part of our family for 11 years.

Hey Michelle - You don't know me, but we are both mods so have that in common.
I live in the western part of the country, single, almost 52 and waiting to hear when the tpr becomes final on my absolutely adorable special needs fs whom I am hoping to be chosen as his forever mommy. He will be my first child.
I love to quilt, read, do Sudoku, WAH so I can be with my babies and praise the Lord.
I agree, it has been so interesting to read all the bios and getting to 'meet' everyone.
Blessings
Welcome to the forum!! You must keep us posted on tpr for your fs. (((((Hugs))))) that you become his forever mommy!
