How did you meet your spouse? Was it a long courtship or short?

I wasn't looking...he was. Somehow he had "found" me on an IM board. My friend had come to my house and set up my brand new computer...and set my up with Yahoo IM. I didn't even know how to do it. My husband lived in Italy. We met 7 years ago...and he came to live in the USA in February 2004...and we were married in April 2004!
I met my soon to be husband in college. Before I started college I told my mom I was going to go to the Catholic center and find a good guy over there. We had Wednesday noon time mass with lunch provided afterwards at the center, and one day the priest was long winded. I had class right after mass, so I couldn't stay to eat. I noticed a guy I hadn't seen before at mass that day, but I didn't think anything of it. I went to class, and then a friend and I went back to the center to eat. That guy was still there. I am a painfully shy person, and he came up and started talking to me, and the rest is history. It's a sweet story because we met at the center. He asked me out the following semester at the center. We had our first kiss there. He told me he loved me for the first time there. By the time we were ready to get engaged, we had finished up at that college, but we still were involved in campus ministry. I coordinate a retreat for college students, and that semester at the closing mass of the retreat, he proposed right after mass was finished in front of a lot of our friends. We've been dating for a painfully long time -- 9 years (I was 18 and he was 21 when we started dating, and we wanted to make sure we were mature enough and finacially ready before jumping into marriage), but we're getting married January 4th. I can honestly say he's my best friend, and we just have so much fun together. Now we work for the same company, and while that might not work for some couples, since he hired on with my company we haven't had a fight, so it works for us. When I told him I wanted to adopt he was on board from the start. I am so blessed to have him in my life, and I could go on forever, but I'll stop before I gross anyone out.
I used to joke that I was going to college for my MRS degree... My first semester there, I joined our Equestrian team. One of our coaches was an alum, a few years old. We all became great friends, and spent every weekend during the school year travelling around to horse shows together, so we all spent time as friends. After a couple of years, we started dating, and got married as soon as I graduated, so about 4 years after we met. It's been 12 years now! GEESH.....
