This is my first time posting. I have a question Im hoping some one can answer for me. We are thinking of emigrating from Ireland to New Zealand:airplane:
We have just sent in our application pack to adopt here however circumstances have changed and we may be moving. Adoption is so important to us and we dont want to make a mistake. If we move to New Zealand can we apply to adopt there instead. I think you must be resident for 2 years before applying but that would not make much of a difference as in Ireland I would be waiting that lenght of time to be assessed anyway:hypno: . Does anyone know if that is a definete rule in NZ or would you find an agency that may bend the rules:confused: as such,

I am not sure, but I thought the agencies were specific to a country, i.e. does your agency in Ireland have their counterpart agency in NZ ??// If not, I think you'll have to follow the NZ rules for adoption once you move over there. I'd ask my agency and find out for sure.Good luck and hope everything goes smoothly for you,

The thing is I dont have the home study done as I have only applied here. I am at the very beginning. I read on some website recently that you have to be resident a minimum of 2 years in New Zealand to adopt. Australia was an option to move to also but again on a website it said that you have to be an australian citizen to adopt and that could take up to 5 years to become a citizen so that is why we are seriously considering New Zealand. We are going to move somewhere as we have decided that, mainly due to lack of work here for my husband at the moment and we just want a new start however Im not moving to a country that would make it difficult for us to continue with our dream of adopting. TTC is hard enough when it doesnt work but the idea of adopting has eased my pain a little so its our main priority. Im just finding it difficult to get the proper info. I have emailed various people in NZ with little or vague replies but then came across this forum.
