Before I had been looking for more excitement from my husband and my daughter but now they are totally excited over the adoption. I guess they were reserving thier emotions till they knew that it was indeed going to come together. Thank you all for all your support. I will post this on my other post so that people will see by reading the one post how are adoption went from beginning to end.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas to you all!!

It was beautiful!!! We had a wonderful time at court on the 26th. My daughter, Jessica was a little nervous but we all did everything we could to let her know that the reason she was here was nothing to be nervous about. Court rooms can be so intimidating!! My husband, Mark, had his Aunt Carol and Uncle Jeff at the courthouse and they brought Jessica a little necklace with a heart and a "W" inside the heart - I almost started crying when I saw it. We had the case held in a civil courtroom because most judges were on vacation. We were called and the only people in the room were us and the court room staff. When the judge asked Mark to swear to tell the truth (which was at the very beginning) my tears began!! I was so elated to finally be at this point in our lives. The judge asked a few questions and the adoption was legalized!! The judge allowed us to take several pictures there in the courtroom and we stood where the judge sits. Jessica even got to sit in the judge's chair. It was a beautiful moment. When we left the courthouse, my mom treated us all to lunch. If it hadn't been for my mom, I'm not sure we would have been able to get this adoption done. She is an awesome mom and I'm so very lucky to have her - we all are lucky to have her.
You said your Mom helped out a lot. Do you know where she started and got her information? I have 3 Step-Children. They call me Dad and I love them as my own. Their father passed away before the youngest was born. He's going to be 10 this year. I have been taking care of them ever since. I've discussed the possibility of adopting them with not only them, but the biological father's parents. They to consider me a son. Everyone is in agreement. I just don't know where to start. Any advise will help.
Thank You
My mom helped me mostly with the financial part of it and getting the attorney. In your situation, with everyone in agreement on the adoption, you wouldn't need an attorney. You can go to the court clerk in your area and ask them for the paperwork to start the adoption proceedings. For my county "Riverside" the link is: California Courts: Self-Help Center: Families & Children: Adoption: All Adoption Forms
I hope this helps, if you have any more questions let me know.
