We just got our referral and expect to travel sometime in September. (we're so excited!!!) Our child is in a southern island, so we do have some concern. Our social worker mentioned the possibility of someone bring the child to us in Manila rather than us traveling there. Because we just got the referral, we are still in a whirlwind trying to figure out next steps. I'm sure we will learn more in the near future. I'll be sure to post the information. By the way, if anyone has any travel tips, please pass them along! Thanks.

Congratulations!!!!!!!! I have chills! That is so exciting :) Do you mind telling me how long the process was for you? If you have the time? How old will your child be in September? My husband is from the PI and has reservations about traveling south there. You may chose to have someone bring the child to Manila.

We are so excited about our news that I don't mind "talking" about it! The process didn't take as long as we thought. Our social worker originally told us to expect 12-18 months after our paper work was sent to the Philippines. Our paper work went over in October 2000, so our wait was only 8 months. Our son is 17 months old right now. We have a colored picture of him on our refrigerator! We were just told last weekend that we won't be traveling to his orphanage in the southern Philippines. Someone will escort him to Manila to Concordia Children's Services where we will meet him. We can't wait!
