What would you say to someone who thought that because you rely on your religion that you don't live in the real world?
I'm not sure I'd bother to say anything at all to them.
I may not be living in THEIR world, but mine's plenty real. There's evidence of grace all around us, whether we choose to see it or not.

I think that is funny in a sad sort of way. I would ask them what they rely on maybe. Or maybe just pray for them. How sad to think that for some they choose to stand alone when our Father is right here, wanting to give us more than we could ever imagine.
I'd likely say BECAUSE I live in the real world, depending on my faith helps me get through. All the crime, sadness, war, children dying, etc., I am thankful to have the support.
Something like that anyway....
Crick - I'm with you - I had a friend who would challenge my faith every chance he got...He'd constantly say, "You don't live in the real world - If there was a God, why is there cancer? Pain? Crime? Religion is a "crutch" for those who can't face reality".
I'd basically say, "Well, my faith gets me through those troubling times...if I didn't have God to rely on, I'd be...well, like you; filled with cynicism and doubt."
My absolute favorite saying is by Thomas Aquinas "For those with faith, no explanation is necessary. For those without, no explanation is possible"
