What have you learned from your special kiddo?
For example, I have learned that this country is not nearly as wheelchair accesable as I used to think. I have learned that cobblestone sidewalks may be pretty but they are a pain in the neck for people in wheelchairs or in walkers! I have learned that you don't need to hands to do most things or even two legs!
WoW..I've learned the true meaning of dying to live (L died twice)
I've learned that not being able to speak, doesn't mean your not able to think ..B taught me this one.
A has taught me..that no matter how bad things are today..they WILL get better

Good question!
I've learned to not live my life worrying about what others think.
I've learned that I am a Mama Bear and will take you out if you try to hurt my kids, emotionally or otherwise.
I've learned that being a parent of SN kids can be very lonely sometimes and you have to find others in similar situations.
I've learned that as a society, we are not as sensitive to others as I thought. I am so tired of hearing people say, "I'm retarded" , or "You're a retard" when they do something foolish.
I've learned not to compare my kids to other kids, and to celebrate their accomplishments and their personalities, regardless of what the neighbors child can do.
I've learned to take great joy in even the tiniest accomplishmentof my little boy, as I love to see Teeter smile when he is proud of himself for doing something new.
I've learned that there is nothing more amazing than the look in the eyes of a child who proudly says (signs) "I'm smart!" when she had been told her whole life that she was stupid.
I've learned that just because something is easy for most children doesn't mean that I can't throw a party when my SN child finally "gets it".
I've learned that "Holland" is pretty nice and I think I might like to visit again soon (ie. adopt another special needs child). :)
I have learned that no matter how severe a bilateral cleft lip/palate is, the smile of that wee one is beautiful.

bit different perspective here but I'll chime in..
I learned one very major important thing growing up with a disability....my parent's faith and belief in me and allowing me to do what I wanted to do really got me through the hard times as well as feel confident that I could handle life & it's obstacles. I was never told "you can't do that" and it has stuck with me all this time.
Y'all rock!:)
