I just received information from an agency that has the same BMI requirements as China and requires $100k in assests. Is this normal or just this agency's decision?

We must have gotten information from the same agency! Also, a parent cannot be taking medication for depression. I was told that the medication issue was all Taiwan, and that immediately eliminated me b/c DH is on antidepressants. I didn't even bother to ask about the BMI and assets questions. Please post if you contact another agency and hear different information. I will do the same.

This is an agency requirement ONLY!!! This is not orphanage or Taiwan law. Please look further into other agencies. Be careful to ask if it is AGENCY requirement? TAIWAN requirement? Or ORPHANAGE requirement! If they represent it is Taiwan Law see other post in this Taiwan forum for USCIS Law. If they represent it is Orphanage, ask which one and do a search on it. They are all online with readily available info as to what THEY require, and all those rules are bendable and have been bent several times, just ask the agency for help decifering your perdicument! Please email me with which agency this is that is requiring this so I know! Thank you.

It really ticks me off when agencies pass off their AGENCY REQIREMENTS as Taiwan requirements. I had an agency once tell me that they woudln't allow anyone with a BMI over 30 adopt because no judge in Taiwan would approve the family. That's bologna.
Hey, this is Sarah k... also on the other Taiwan board you talk on... I agree with you hon. The agency passing off their criteria for country has got to stop.. it isn't fair to good parents, or would be good parents given a good chance too...
