There have been so many things happening over the last few weeks, that I haven't checked in for several weeks. I've enjoyed reading through the posts that I've missed though.
Four weeks ago I was in Guatemala visiting our baby girl. She is absolutely wonderful and I miss her terribly.
There has been a lot happening with Guatemalan adoptions for quite some time, but especially over the last few weeks and I've been a bit OCD about it. However, we received news that our case was approved by PGN (that's basically the equivalent of our attorney general's office) and our attorney has an appointment to get the birth mother's final signature. So our precious baby girl will legally be ours sometime in the next few days. Our case will then be submitted to civil registry for a new birth certificate listing us as her parents and then we begin the final processing on the U.S. side of things and can bring her home. We began our adoption journey the end of November, 2006 and it seems so surreal that this is really going to happen for us.
Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten my over 40 friends and wanted to share my good news with you.

Debbie, just wanted to say Congratulations! We have a 5 year old daughter who came home at 14 months old from Guatemala! She was 3 days old when we got her referral. I have been keeping up with things that are going on with the adoptions some. So glad to see another little one coming home!
