Pa law has all adoption records sealed to the birth parents. Adoptees (age 18 and older) and their A-families can obtain records. Then, if requested, the state will contact the b-mom to ask if contact with her is ok. Is there any way a b-mom can search? I guess I must have to wait and hope that someday my b-son will want to have contact with me. Does anyone else have a different experience than mine that may help? Thank you so much!
Yes you understand that correctly in Pa only the adoptee can start a legal search, we cannot, but the law also makes the adoptee's search nearly impossible and expensive, basicly dont count on the state to help you in any way, they wont, we are on our own.

Thank you lonleyinga. Sad, isn't it? I had no choice about putting my son up for adoption, and now, even the state gives me no help. PA laws (not only in this respect) seem so out of date, so archaic at times. It makes me sad and angry that even now, at the age of 52, they are controlling a very personal and important situation in my life. I am sorry you are going through this. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Good luck in your search. My son was born 12/27/73 in Delaware County.
Mooey - have you registered with the various PA mutual consent registries?
If & when your biological child turns 18 he can also register, and if you are both [mutually] registered and agree to contact, you will BOTH be notified. It works the same here in NYS.
Here's some websites for you check out:
For YOU to register information for your bio-son -

Thank you Nicole28! I just registered with PARR. I was not aware of the sites you mentioned. I can't tell you how much this meant to me. I wish you success in your search as well. Thanks again.
Ah, yes the wonderful Pa mutual consent registry, great idea, but it doesnt work, it was designed not to, heres how it works, bparent fills out form, if adpotee even knows about it, he can send $10 to the state to find out if bparent regestered, if match is made, bparent might be notified, if no match, case is dropped, if bparent regesters later adoptee is not notified, and bparent is not told adoptee had asked, if adoptee wants to try again he must send another $10, great aint it
