Hello everyone! My husband and I are going to adopt from Colombia-we just have to select an agency! We had an agency, but they did not get their Hague accreditation. We are done with our home study and expect to be making that decision in the next week. Currently, we do not have any children and have not previously adopted. We live in Missouri and I just turned 30, exciting times!!!

How fun! Lots of new people around here now! :D
We live in central IL and are waiting to adopt an infant through the ICBF. We were approved in August of last year, so we still have a long wait left, but time is passing!! It helps to have a 2-year-old at home to keep me busy too. ;)
Looking forward to seeing good news from everyone soon!
Hello! I don't get to visit here much with the little one home, but I'm happy to see the new folks on the board! We got home in mid-April with our now 10.5 month old son Santiago. He was almost 7 months old on our Gotcha Day. Honestly, I didn't believe that the words "free time" would be erased from my vocabulary when we got home, but it's true! ;)
We live in Northern Minnesota and Santiago was adopted from the casa privada Los Pisingos.
I hope everyone is doing well!!!

I am 38, husband 32, and we live in the Boston area. We began our adoption process in fall 2007 to adopt from CRAN in Bogota. We sent our paperwork last May and finally this April our application was 'approved.' Our agency tells us we are "next" on the list. (I have absolutely no idea what that means in terms of time, or even if it's true, since our agency has been somewhat problematic. I hear great things about CRAN though!)
Good friends of ours just returned from Bogota in early May with their son. They got to meet Anna Marie :) while they were there.

My husband and I are finishing the homestudy process. I am 24, he is 25. We hope to have everything ready to submit for the dossier by the time I turn 25. We are going to be adopting our first child 0-2 through ICBF. We live in Northwest Iowa. From some very good advice from someone who's been through this before, we are starting some projects to help with the anticipated wait time. Starting with the backyard renovation now that it's finally warm outside! :)

We got home on February 28th with our beautiful daughter, Gabriela. We completed our adoption through ICBF and met Gabby on January 23rd in Medellin. She just celebrated her first birthday on May 13th and is keeping us very busy!
Like Laura, my timeline was much shorter because my husband is Colombian.
Hi girls!!
I'm new to these boards and they work different than the Baby Center ones so please be patient with me.
After 2 years of TTC, m/c's and fertility treatments we are ready to start the adoption process. My DH was one of the first kids to be adopted from FANA in Colombia about 30 something years ago so we want to try to adopt from Colombia also.
My IL have some info but is 30 years old (so not much help there) but their adoption stories bring tears my eyes everytime I hear them. They said it was the best thing they ever did in their lifes!!! They even went back 5 years later and adopted a baby girl (MY SIL).
I would love to be part of this group. Any stories or advise will be greatly appretiated. We haven't done anything yet so we are brand new to this whole process.
I would also like to have info about the agencies you girls have used - I understand this info needs to be PM - How do we go about that???
Thanks!!

Hi,
My name is Elyse. DH and I just adopted a baby from Guatemala. He came home in January and is the most precious thing ever. Now I am beginning to research for the adoption of our next baby. Ian needs a sister. I know Guatemala is having a lot of problems as are so many other countries with the Hague but I am just trying to get some info about Colombia. If anyone has any advice or information please let me know.
Thanks,:thanks:
Elyse
My husband and I live in Central Illinois. We have been approved to adopt a 3-4 year old. I am hoping the wait will be shorter than the predicted 30 months. While we wait, I am taking classes to get a degree in computer support services. That keeps me busy.
I also hope we can get our I171H fingerprints redone before they expire.

We are in Colorado. On December 5th, 2007 we were approved by ICBF for an infant. While waiting the 30 months, we decided to try domestic (I am 38 and my husband is 30). To our wonderful surprise, we were chosen by a birth mother and are became proud parents in March. Our amazing baby boy is now 3 months old. But, we are still patiently waiting for our Colombian addition! We too have to get our fingerprints updated before they expire in August.
We are Yvonne and Hernan. We live in Florida and just came home with Alex this past February. We started the process last June 2007. We received our approval from ICBF and our referral in Decmber. Gotcha Day was 2/11/08. Alex was 7 months old in San Gil, Santander. He will be 1 this Sunday!!! Our process went so quickly because my husband is Colombian.

Hello!
We received "Sentencia" for our daughter in October 2005. She wasn't even 3 months old when she was placed in our arms for the 1st time. Then I blinked and she turned 3 YEARS old this month!!! We adopted her via Los Pisingos in Bogota and stayed at Hotel Paris for just under one month.
We are in the process of adopting a son (although we would be thrilled with another daughter) from Los Pisingos.
I told my husband last night that in a few years I want to look into adopting an older sibling group. The look on his face was priceless!!! Okay, maybe we should get the 2nd one first before we ease into 2 or 3 more...
P.S. Hi NashvilleGirl!!! I can't believe how fast AnnaMarie is growing up...she has the sweetest little face! Sorry we'll be missing you in October...but those 1st birthdays are a real milestone and I'm sure you all are going to have a blast! We'll catch you "next time around", I hope.
P.P.S. To Sumerce, thanks for all of your very informative blogs. I'm going to try to make the Limonada receta this week. We had a juice called Lulo (I think) when we were in Bogota last time that was just fabulous...I can't wait to go back!!!
Hi,
We adopted our daugther through Los Pisingos in Aug. 2006 at 3 1/2 months old. We stayed at Hotel Paris for five weeks, with one week in Cartagena.
We are now waiting to hear back from CIS to get fingerprinted, and then send our dossier, wait for approval, then wait, wait, wait! We are adopting from ICBF 0-2, WIC.
