Hi girls!!
I'm new to these boards and they work different than the Baby Center ones so please be patient with me.
After 2 years of TTC, m/c's and fertility treatments we are ready to start the adoption process. My DH was one of the first kids to be adopted from FANA in Colombia about 30 something years ago so we want to try to adopt from Colombia also.
My IL have some info but is 30 years old (so not much help there) but their adoption stories bring tears my eyes everytime I hear them. They said it was the best thing they ever did in their lifes!!! They even went back 5 years later and adopted a baby girl (MY SIL).
I would love to be part of this group. Any stories or advise will be greatly appretiated. We haven't done anything yet so we are brand new to this whole process.

Congratulations on deciding to adopt! There are a few members here who adopted as Colombians (or their DH is Colombian) and they can give you a ton of info. You and DH would fall under that category, I would assume. You get an expedited process as a Colombian, so the process is different than what I went through. I think most Colombians adopt through ICBF vs. the private orphanages. (We adopted through ICBF, too).We brought our son home six months ago, and he is just the sweetest boy! We love him dearly and can't imagine not having him in our family. Our experience in Colombia was wonderful and we can't wait to go back some day!
Mayra,Welcome to the group. How COOL that your husband is a Colombian adoptee, and even cooler that you guys will be adopting from Colombia! Your process will be pretty fast since your husband is Colombian. There are many agencies that work with ICBF. You might want to read through some of the recent posts that list which agencies have received their Hague accreditation. You will need to choose from that list since Colombia is a Hague country. Congrats and good luck!
