Has anyone ever heard about being able to apply for the state adoption subsidy after the adoption is finalized? We were denied in 2003, though I don't think we should have been because she was a minority that had been in foster care for 1 1/2 years. Our case worker urged us not to appeal for fear of slowing down the process. Come to find out, our daughter has severe emotional/behavioral problems...probably reactive attachment disorder. Is there any way to go back and reapply with this new information? It hurts to think of the kind of care she could get with the money from the subsidy.
I've heard of having an agreement signed pre-adoption that states that the case can be re-evaluated if something like you've described comes up later in life. I'm not sure if it's something standard that may already be in your agreements with the state or not, but you might read through your paperwork just incase.

try it. You may want to start at the top of the list (head of the agency you went through). Good luck!!
