Hi, I was on a website with special needs kids, and fell in love with a 4yo little girl with mild cp....
The cost marked by the agency is $22000 including travel and homestudy costs... does it sound correct for you? is it too expensive?
Other question is... after the homestudy is done, how long does it usually take from the time we finish homestudy to the time we are actually allowed to travel and pick up the girl?
Lastly, how complicated is Bulgarian adoption and how usual is FAS in bulgaria?
thank you so much,
Sandra
Mamae,
Bulgaria does not allow any photo listings of their children and there are no matches before your dossier is submitted. I do not know which agency this is, but I would be VERY cautious.

I have done more research on this. It appears that one or more agencies are taking descriptions of children off of the special needs list, and putting generic pictures with them. You can try for this girl, but a few things you need to know:
1. This is probably a fake picture
2. That agency has not been given that child to place. So, depending when your dossier is done and in country she may or may not be available
3. If you have to pay for travel and homestudy in addition to the $22K, those fees are high for Bulgaria.

That's not necessarily true. Our agency has photos of Bulgarian children. I even got an email the other day of two special needs kids that need a home. $22,000.00 seems pretty accurate to me. We've adopted from both Bulgaria and Russia.

I want to second the be cautious. Bulgaria does not allow internet posting of children. I know of an adoptive family that had a difficult time because their work was internet based. They are very fearful of internet exploitation of Bulgarian children.
The rules have changeed in Bulgaria. Matches are made after dossier submittal, being as specific as possible regarding the charecteristics of the child you are seeking.
Before choosing an agency, research - A LOT! Bulgaria has just recently began moving adoptions along, please choose an agency with experience in this country. Many things have changed with implentaton of the Hague.
