I am looking for my mother-in-law's biological mother. My wife's mom was born on July 9, 1941 we believe in Norfolk Virgina. The story that was told to my mother in law by her adopted parents was that her biological mom was very young when she was married and her parents annulled the marriage and gave the baby up for adoption. We don't know if this was true or a story to paint a happier picture of why she was put up for adoption, but this is about all we know. Thanks for any help!!

Do you know the name of the family that adopted your mother-in-law? Does you mother-in-law know her last name prior to adoption?

Her adopted maiden name was Bartlette, but she doesn't know her biological name. My wife has done a mDNA test to see if anyone else checking there maternal genealogy might come up as a match for her mother's mom, but even a close match may be several generations back. Are you aware of a girl being born around the date listed below?
I do not know the exact month however it is believed to be closer to Feb - My grandmother had a baby girl in 1941 - she lived in DC at the time so the birth could have been DC Maryland or Virginia - My grandmother is gone and I am trying to help my mother locate her sibling - we believe a family with the last name of Wareheim may have adopted the baby girl in 41
I did a public records search and didn't find a Wareheim in Maryland or Virginia, but in North Carolina there was one in 1940 (see below). Do you mind if I ask what your grandmother's name was. I can see if she's listed in the records search.
Name: Rebecca L Wareheim
Date of Birth: 19 Apr 1940
Race: White
Birth County: Pitt
Parent1 Name: Chas W Wareheim
Parent2 Name: Lula Bell Weeks
Roll Number: B_C079_66002
Volume: 26

Hi Phillip, my grandmothers name was Dorothy Martin - have no clue who the father was of her baby girl. Thank you for looking.

It turns out that there were a lot of Dorothy Martin's (in Maryland, Virginia, and DC). Death dates ranged between 1983 and 2006. Do you happen to know her birth/death dates and whether Martin was her maiden name?
Thanks,
Phillip
One other note. When we checked with Virginia to find out more information on my mother-in-law's biological parents were, they said that there was no listing in their records of who the father was either.
I have a picture of my mother-in-law at this link below in the event you see any resemblence with your mom/grandma.

Phillip,
I do not see a resemblence - sorry. I did forward the picture to my mother to get her opinion. Martin is my grandmothers maiden name, she was 18 when she had the baby, and she was born May 30 1923. Is there a way we could e-mail each other direct?
Thanks again - and I will let you know what my mom thinks when she sees the picture.
