I am beginning to process to adopt a child from Mexico. While I am American I live and work in Mexico. I have an appointment tomorrow with DIF to discuss the adoption process as I won't be applying through an agency. After much research and from the advice on these boards I understand the approximate process time for the I-800A, but my question is, about how long does it take to receive a response from USCIS regarding the I-800? As I understand it after the adoption is finalized in Mexico I submit the I-800. But are we talking a few weeks or several months to receive the go ahead to get the IR-3?Also, is there a difference in processing times if applying from outside the U.S.? Because I will be submitting all documents to, as well as having fingerprints taken, at the USCIS office in Juarez, Mexico.Last, would a homestudy conducted by a DIF (the Mexican government authority that manages foster care and adoption) social worker be accepted by USCIS? DIF conducts a homestudy to fulfill the requirements of their application, but, I am not sure, since Mexico is a Hague country, if USCIS would require the person conducting the homestudy be from an approved agency or simply approved by the home countryAny advice or information would be appreciated!Jennie
