Hello...I am in Texas and will be doing domestic foster/adopt through the state. I attended the information meeting in May 2008 and am about to send off the paperwork that I got over the summer.
The paperwork consists of a consent form for the background investigation as well as the criminal background history....it is my understanding that once they process this info, they will notify me about when the PRIDE training classes are.
So my questions are: Once I have been "screened" and I am put into a training class, does it mean that I have been "accepted" and I'm one step closer to being a mom:cheer: or will I have to be "checked" again in the future? Should I expect more detailed forms that asks for a breakdown of income, reasons for wanting to adopt, etc? This form only asks what my annual income is...nothing more...I thought that was odd....:flower:
Hi! I am in the midst of PRIDE. You are only approved to adopt once you have completed pride, more paperwork and had a homestudy. So you could concivably go through the PRIDE class, and not end up being approved to adopt. Frustating? yes. Needed? yes. During PRIDE you are going to have lots of homework examining your reasons for adopting, your ability to deal with behaviors & finacial crisis, etc. You are on the first step, keep on going!

Do you know how long it normally takes for them to notify you about training after you submit your initial paperwork?
nevermind..I decided to email them and surprisingly they responded within 20 mins...they are waiting on my criminal background to come back, possibly on Monday....
So far it has been quick (like your 20 min!) A few slower moments but I am attributing that to holiday craziness.
