Colombian national newspaper -- El Tiempo recently published a brief article about adoption.

It states that currently there are 5, 479 children waiting to be adopted. Most of these children are remaining in the ICBF system because either they:
are older than 8 years of age or adolescents
are in sibling groups
or have some sort of disability
As is the case in the US, the older you get or the larger your family size, the less likely it is you will be adopted.
The article also points out that most older children/ sibling groups/ and children with disabilities are being adopted by foreigners.
