I am on vacation for the next 2 weeks and plan to do a little "reading"..can anyone suggest a good book to read? I am planning on foster/adoption of a 0-5 yr old..I already purchased "20 Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew" but I'll be through with that soon....
I really loved Three Little Words (sorry, I'm horrible with authors), big eye opener on the foster care system. I'm also waiting on a copy of They Cage the Animals at Night. I've also finished Our Own - older children adoption and 20 things. I tried to get thru Toddler Adoption the Weaver's Craft but it's very clinical & boring.

Thanks..I'll look at these titles as well but like you, if they are too clinical and boring, I won't read them...
They cage the Animals at Night is a very good book, although sad. I also like "Another place at the Table" and "One Small boat" by Kathy Harrison. These two books are about a very good foster mother.
A agree with recommending Kathy Harrison's books. It is nice to have books about fosterparenting that are honest, but not discouraging. Too often the books seem to be about the extremes of foster care.
Upbeat Mom :flower:
I have bought a copy of "Chicken Soup for the Adopted Soul". I haven't started reading it yet, but it's full of true stories! Hope that helps!
