I'm torn between two agencies. The price spand is pretty big. Both are Hague accredited etc. What is an approx amount you spent to totally complete your adoption? :thanks:

Hi, We are in the middle of the process of adopting through an agency in Bulgaria. The cost is as follows, 2000euros initially on signing of contracts
3000euros after the first contact is made with the child
3000euros at the time of picking up the child
This is how it is written on the contract but it could be a little higher as they are using two translators, English and Greek,(we live in Greece)They also give a breakdown of the fees. I hope this is helpful for you and good luck .

I would plan on $26,000.
This sounds about right to me. I'm surprised that you're getting radically different quotes from agencies. Are you sure that both quotes are all-inclusive? Is one quoting approximate cost of travel for 2 trips and one isn't? Is one quoting homestudy fees, USCIS fees, etc. and the other isn't? I always thought that in the end, the costs would be very close regardless of which agency you select.
Do be sure that you are comparing "apples to apples". Create a little spreadsheet with all of the categories of fees, so you can be sure that you are not including one charge, such as the application fee, with one agency, and excluding it with the other. I think you will find, when you truly compare all the components accurately, that there won't be a big difference.

I did forget to double the travel expenses, now one agency is about 19,000 and the other is about 32,000.
 This is crazy! If anyone would PM and give me an est cost and refer their agency I would greatly appreciate it.
:thanks:

Split the difference! LMAO. Seriously, my agency quoted just over $19K and that didn't include travel or the fee for submitting the I-800A ($650). We're just completing our homestudy, so I don't know exactly where we'll fall, but I'd anticipate around $25K all-in (we'll use points for free hotel nights).
Are you applying for Special Needs Program? I know we were quoted reduced fees if we had chosen to go strictly SN route.
I am considering SN. My DH and I haven't really had a chance to talk about that yet. My mom worked for a ENT that would repair a cleft lip/palate. Still waiting on DH.
Agree with LockStock. Our agency quote is just over 19K, but does not include homestudy, I-800A or travel costs.
LILMOM,
Healthy child fees with 2 parents traveling could realistically be the upper 20's to lower 30's, especially if two parents are traveling on both trips.
Things to take into consideration are:
Exchange rate at the time you pay fees
I-800
Homestudy
Other document fees: Birth Certificates copies, Marriage/divorce copies, etc... FBI Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, etc. (each is small but all add up)
Fed Ex fees
Wiring fees
Postage
It all adds up... just for you to consider.

Thanks everyone! I got a run down from the agency over the weekend. Added in the things not included (travel, food, homestudy etc) With a little bit of guesstimating I figure it's going to be about 28,000. Which as I told my DH after the home equity line of credit, grant etc we would only be paying for 2 vactions. That was my way of breaking the cost down for him lol.Still waiting on him....
