Owen is 2.5, and Ian is 9 mo. I'd like to have another baby/child home with us around the time Ian turns 2, or maybe 3yo. The question: With waiting times, how soon do we start the paperwork? We are thinking about adopting domestically (Hispanic child), from Colombia, or from Ethiopia. Any thoughts or experiences appreciated!!

If you are considering Colombia -- you need to start NOW! Even then Ian may well be 4 or 5 before you bring home another child. Currently, the wait times with ICBF, for an infant 0-2 years of age are about 36 -42 months. This is from the time your dossier is approved by the Colombian govt. This 36-40 months DOES NOT include everything you have to do here in the US to be able to send your dossier to Colombia -- which can take from 3-9 months depending on your diligence.
