Sadly my dad passed way 1 April, just 2 months before he would have been able to request his adoption records. So I feel the need to finish his journey in finding out about his birth parents. I have no desire to meet family just want to be able to put a name to grandparents that I never met. My dad was 76, so I am assuming his parents would be 92+ if they were to be still living. Not much information at this time to go on, but will be submitting the forms for non-identifying information in hopes that it might assist in my search. From information gathered by my dad, he believes his mother's last name was Self and that her dad was a minsiter/reverend. Not sure where this information came from and also something else I remember him mentioning was something about Six Nations Reserve in Brantford - not sure if he mentioned born there or born around there. If anyone might have any connection to a Self family would appreciate if they could ask around the family and see if anyone recalls a girl having a baby in Nov 1932 and putting up for adoption. I tend to think that at that time, unwed pregnancies were frowned upon and that many family members might not have even know if a female relative was pregnant. Oh and also my dad believes his birth name was Alvin Self. Will update if/when I get any information from the non-identifying information when I receive it.
