Today we had the first visit with our daughters bmom since her goodbye visit 8 months ago. County told us that they supported an open adoption, but would not allow any visits until our adoption was final. we finalized this past Monday and had a visit today. It went very well. better then I expected. I knew bmom would be no problem at all. She has been very supportive of us since the start and we have worked well together. When it came clear that the girls would not be going home she asked us to adopt the girls. She stands behind us 100% She has been a great resource for us. When I was worried about is our 11 year old. I was afraid of the after visit fall out. She is so attached to her mom and in the past when she thought she may be RU and it didn't happen she would go through depression and then this past xmas when we were in the black out period she was depressed again. So after this visit everyhting is seemingly going well. There were no tears. When dropping off bmom (we picked her up and went bowling) she told the girls that this is a happy day and there is no place for tears because they have a great family and we just had a wonderful time together. Both girls did well, hoping it keeps going well over the next couple days.
Wow! What a great thing for biomom to say :) What a blessing for you!
I'm glad it went well..
Our daughter had just two post adoption visits before the birth parents did not respond to invites... we shall see what happens from here. I had hoped for better... for my daughter's sake. But, I have their names and can help her find them when she's older if that's what she wants.

I am sure that is really hard for your daughter. At least she will know she has your support if and when she decides to look for them down the road.
