Even if you hate Dr. Phil, you might want to watch today's show. It is part two of A Teen's Pregnancy" Brittany's Decision about a girl making decisions regarding her pregnancy.
There is also a guest "expert" who explains why open adoptions are a bad idea.
I watched Part One yesterday...it upset me. I imagine I'll force myself to view Part 2 today. (For the record, I didn't like how the amom at the hospital was upset that the emom wanted to hold her baby after it was born.) I don't think that Phil McGraw has a clue when it comes to birth/first mothers.
But then, I detest how he treats some of the troubled teenage girls on his show, specifically the ones who run away from home and turn to prostitution. He always has this older man who is a private investigator track them down and question them about their sexual lives...very inappropriate, IMHO.

Unfortunately I watched a bit of Dr. Phil yesterday...and caught the bit about the emom wanting to hold her baby and then decided not to, wonder who coached that...
At the same time I was reading Georgia Tann - The Baby Thief...
I won't utter the words that fill my head right now...
Kind regards,
Dickons
I don't watch his show...he's many things to me that I just won't say, but it's not positive.
As for the expert on open adoption, I guess I need to watch that because I truly believe that is a very personal decision to be made amongst the parties intimately involved in the adoption. No one's experience is going to be the same so I find it silly almost that anyone is going to sit there and claim "This is bad for everyone. This is best for everyone. If you do this, you must do it this way." etc.

I was flipping through channels and that is the part that I came across. I yelled at the tv and turned the channel. Knew I didn't like him or his show.
Maybe he'll balance it with a family who has successfully had an OA for 8 years? Probably not, huh?

I would think the type of adoption that would work best would be like any other part of adoption (or parenting, for that matter!), there's never ONE right way to do anything. Different situations call for different approaches.
As far as Dr. Phil, I don't care for him, I don't think he has a clue on adoption or women for that matter;)
